Each day offers curated routes ranging from gentle, scenic rides to more challenging routes, showcasing the best of Hampshire’s countryside and coastlines.

Explore the South Downs, New Forest, and the South coast, with leisurely routes past lavender fields, vineyards, and historic manors. Each ride is fully supported with knowledgeable guides and are filled with relaxing stops in traditional pubs, local cafes, and market towns.

WHAT TO EXPECT

The day starts with breakfast at the hotel (continental breakfast).  Meeting at 9.30 in the hotel lobby followed by a briefing, going through the day and answering any questions, departure before 10am. Once we leave we will all be riding as a group. We will be riding daily with you, to make sure everyone enjoys the journey.  Half way, we will stop at a café for those wanting a coffee break/ lunch or just to discover the surroundings.  The evening is yours,  feel free to enjoy your evening meal with us, the group or discover the local cuisine on your own

Route condition

The routes we are riding are mainly quiet with a few busier sections when we reach the towns .

These require care and experience with road cycling .  Roads are suitable for road bikes and well surfaced.

Accomodation

We have carefully selected hotels that we have personally visited and enjoyed. These hotels offer comfort, cleanliness, and high quality, with secure indoor bike storage available. Some hotels have on-site restaurants, and all provide a great breakfast to start off your day. Your luggage will be transferred daily.

Meals and snacks

You’ll have plenty of options for lunch and supper at local cafés and restaurants.

There is no specific formula for evening meals,  you may choose to dine with the group, or you can explore the local cuisine on your own, experiencing the flavors Portugal is famous for.

Bike Maintenance and Mechanical Issues

We have bike cleaning materials and basic tools such as allen keys, lubricants and pumps, so you can maintain your bike daily.

However it is helpful for everyone to know how to replace a tube or repair a puncture/flat, we are on call to assist with minor mechanical issues that can be addressed  roadside.  For more specialized repairs, we can transport you and your bike to a local bike shop where available.

Day 1 London to Hamphire hotel

Arrival to London, pick up at the airport and transfer to Hampshire.

To kick off our first evening, we invite you to join us for a group dinner. It will be a wonderful opportunity to relax, share a meal, and get to know one another in a warm and friendly atmosphere.

For this cycling vacation we have carefully planned these rides to ensure you make the most of every moment. Although the days are outlined as Day 1, Day 2, and so forth, the itinerary may be adjusted, interchangeable days based on local events and weather conditions, allowing you to fully experience the beauty of the English countryside and everything it has to offer.

Day 2 Alresford loop
Distance 80 km to 100 km

Cycling through the lush English countryside to Alresford, a charming Georgian town, you’ll discover its colorful, pastel-washed houses, scenic riverside walks, and unique specialty shops. It is also the heart of the UK’s watercress industry.

You will discover the Watercress Line steam railway and a picturesque town, where you’ll find inviting tea rooms and independent shops to explore.

Alresford is an ideal place for a relaxed stroll, offering plenty to admire, including St. John’s Parish Church and Old Alresford Pond, a historic landmark created by Bishop de Lucy in the 12th century.

Day 3 Winchester loop

Cycling along the quaint, history-rich roads on our way to Winchester, This ride offers a unique opportunity to experience the beauty of the countryside. As we approach this historic city, you’ll be captivated by its charming streets and stunning architecture. Winchester, once the capital of England, is filled with rich heritage, from its iconic cathedral to its picturesque market square. We will be exploring its fascinating history, enjoying the vibrant atmosphere and taking in the breathtaking views, Winchester promises a memorable adventure at every turn.

Day 4 Isle of Wight

On this day we will ride along the coastal cycle path to Portsmouth where we will hop on a ferry with your bike to the Isle of Wight. We’ll disembark at Ryde where you’ll cycle  the 1/2 mile long wooden pier to reach land  and set off on an unforgettable cycling journey around  this breathtaking island. Famous for its stunning landscapes, picturesque villages, and scenic coastal routes, the Isle of Wight is a paradise for cycling enthusiasts. We will pedal along the dramatic cliffs, past Osborne house (queen Victorias family home ) through the charming streets and towns of  Cowes and Yarmouth  uncovering hidden treasures at every turn. With its rich history, sandy shores, and lush green countryside, the Isle of Wight offers the perfect blend of cycling and natural beauty for an unforgettable adventure.

Day 5 Options
Distance 40 km to 60 km

For those who wish to explore the surrounding areas, we offer a free day to do so. We are happy to assist you in planning your visit and providing recommendations. Alternatively, for those who prefer a day of discovery by bike, we can offer a scenic loop, complete with a lovely coffee break along the way. Whether you choose to explore at your own pace or join us for a cycling adventure, we are here to help make your day enjoyable and memorable.

Day 6 South Downs National Park loop

Exploring the South Downs National Park is an experience you won’t forget, offering the perfect blend of natural beauty, rolling hills, and charming villages. With its stunning landscapes, the South Downs invites you to ride along miles of quiet roads  that weave through lush countryside, sweeping chalk downs, and ancient woodlands.

As we cycle, we’ll be treated to panoramic views that stretch all the way to the sea, with the terrain suitable for every level. Along the way, we’ll pause in picturesque villages such as Petersfield, West Meon to unwind at cozy cafés or traditional pubs, and take a moment to appreciate the area’s rich history of medieval churches and historic market towns.

Day 7 South Downs National Park loop

We continue our adventure, exploring the stunning South Downs in Hampshire and extending our journey to the charming city of Chichester.  Every turn offers a new discovery, from historic villages to hidden viewpoints that showcase the natural beauty of this region.

Reaching Chichester, we are welcomed by its vibrant blend of history and culture. This historic city, with its Roman roots and magnificent cathedral, invites us to wander through its quaint streets and bustling market square. Chichester is also a gateway to the South Downs, offering easy access to coastal paths and countryside routes. Whether immersing ourselves in the cultural treasures of Chichester or enjoying the tranquil landscapes of the South Downs, this journey is a perfect blend of nature and heritage.

Day 8 New Forest

Today we will embark on a thrilling cycling day through the stunning New Forest. Known for its vast heathlands, ancient woodlands, and wild ponies, the New Forest offers a perfect landscape for cycling enthusiasts. The day begins riding on  peaceful roads, where you can immerse yourself in the natural beauty of the area. Stop along the way to explore charming villages of Beaulieu and Lyndhurst to  enjoy quaint cafes, and discover hidden gems nestled within the forest. We will be cycling through open fields, dense woods, and along picturesque lakes, every turn reveals a new scenic delight. Take in the fresh air, enjoy the tranquility, and embrace the freedom of cycling through one of England’s most iconic natural landscapes.

Day 9 Arundel Loop

Cycling from Havant to Arundel offers an enjoyable and scenic route through the beautiful landscapes of southern England. Starting in Havant, we’ll make our way through charming countryside, passing quaint villages and picturesque farmland. As we approach Arundel, the landscape becomes even more stunning, with the sight of the River Arun and the iconic Arundel Castle in the distance. Along the way, you’ll experience peaceful rural paths, quiet lanes, and scenic views that make this cycling journey truly memorable. Once in Arundel, will take time to explore the historic town, with its impressive castle, cathedral, and lovely streets. It’s a fantastic day of cycling, filled with history, natural beauty, and a sense of adventure.

Day 10 East Meon loop

Cycling from Langstone Harbour to East Meon offers a scenic and enjoyable route through the picturesque countryside of Hampshire. The journey begins at Langstone Harbour, a serene spot known for its coastal views and nature reserves. From there, you will head inland, gradually leaving the coast behind as you pedal through rolling hills and lush farmland.

The route will take you along quiet country roads, with a few gentle ascents, offering panoramic views of the surrounding landscape. As you cycle, you’ll pass charming villages and rural settlements, each with its own unique character. The landscape changes from open fields to wooded areas, with the South Downs providing a stunning backdrop as you approach East Meon.

Along the way, you may catch glimpses of ancient churches and historic buildings, adding a sense of heritage to the ride. The final stretch into East Meon brings you closer to the heart of the South Downs National Park, where the village is nestled. Once you arrive, you can enjoy the tranquility of East Meon, with its traditional cottages, medieval church, and picturesque countryside surrounding the village.

This route is a perfect blend of coastal beauty and rural charm, with enough variety in the terrain to keep it interesting for cyclists of different abilities.

Day 11 options

Today marks our final day in Hampshire, and you have the freedom to make the most of it. For those eager to explore the surrounding areas, we’ve set aside a free day and are happy to assist with planning your visit and providing recommendations.

Alternatively, if you’re in the mood for one last cycling adventure, we can arrange a scenic loop that includes a delightful coffee break to savor along the way. Whether you choose to explore independently or join us for a ride, we’re here to ensure your day is as enjoyable and memorable as possible.

As the day comes to a close, it’s time to give our bikes a well-earned rest and prepare them for travel. Please have your bike boxed and ready by 5:00 PM.

Let’s gather at 7:00 PM for our final group dinner in Hampshire, a special opportunity to reflect on and share memories of our wonderful days of cycling together. It’s the perfect way to celebrate the adventures we’ve had, the stunning landscapes we’ve explored, and the camaraderie we’ve built along the way. Let’s meet in the lobby at 9:00 AM as we prepare for our journey to London, an exciting and vibrant city waiting to be explored. Once we arrive at the hotel, we’ll take a moment to drop off our luggage and get settled.

From there, the rest of the day is yours to enjoy however you wish. Stroll through iconic streets, visit world-famous landmarks, or simply soak in the atmosphere of this magnificent city. Whether you choose to explore London’s rich history, indulge in its culinary delights, or discover its hidden gems, we hope you make the most of this incredible opportunity. This final day is yours to design as you wish.  Whether you wish to spend the day fully immersed in discovering the vibrant and historic city of London or prefer to take it slow and savor a relaxing moment of tranquility, the choice is yours. Embrace the energy of the city, visit its iconic landmarks, explore hidden corners, or simply take this time to unwind and reflect on the wonderful journey we’ve shared.
